Oldtown Florence

Where the river meets the sea in Florence, Oregon, many deep sea fishing vessels make their home. The fast flowing Siuslaw River runs to the sea from the upriver port of Mapleton. This important river is navigable for log booms, tugs and other commercial vessels. Ken Kesey wrote "Sometimes a Great Notion" in this locale. During the late eighties and the nineties, my farm was located a short distance from here.
